Reese Witherspoon heeft in 2008 een nieuw landhuis gekocht in Ojai, Californië, van 6.9 miljoen dollar.
Volgens de MLS lijst is het een architectonisch hoogstandje van architect Wallace Neff. Dit perfecte toevluchtsoord ligt in de prachtige Ojai Valley, een korte rit naar een LA’s meeste gewilde vakantieplaatsen. Met een sprookjesachtige nieuwe master suite met en veel privacy.
Het huis verscheen in House Beautiful toen het eigendom was van interieurontwerper Kathryn M. Ireland.
Oorspronkelijk werd dit huis ontworpen door Wallace Neff in de jaren '20 als graanpakhuis. Daarna heeft een andere architect, Austen Pierpoint, in de jaren ’40 veranderingen in het pand aangebracht zodat het pand geschikt werd als woonhuis.
Het is klassieke Spaanse architectuur, maar met een gevoel van de bohemien, plezier, comfortabel en losjes. Kathryn houd van de manier waarop dit huis van keuken in woonkamer veranderd.
Wat ook veel karakter uitstraalt zijn de massieve ijzeren deurklinken overal. Ze is er dol op om deze te gebruiken. Ze noemt het ronduit middeleeuws.
Deze fantastische woning was het droomlandschap voor de openlucht bruiloft van Reese en Jim Toth in haar Ojai ranch dit jaar voor ongeveer 100 gasten.

Originally, this house was designed by Wallace Neff in the ‘20s to a barn. Then another architect, Austen Pierpoint, made changes in the ‘40s so it could be a home.
It is classic Spanish architecture, but with a sense of bohemian, fun, comfortable and loose. Kathryn loves the way this house moves from the kitchen into the living room.
Which also emits a lot of character are the massive iron door handles everywhere. She loves to lift them. She calls it downright medieval.
This fabulous house was the dream scenery when Reese has married Jim Toth in an outdoor wedding at her Ojai ranch this year in front of about 100 guests.
